Mr. Krishnendu Singha Roy hails from Berhampore, the cultural and largest city in the historical district of Murshidabad in the state of West Bengal, India. He holds a Postgraduate degree in Botany from the University of Kalyani.
Inspired by his teachers, he began his journey in photography during his college days with a film camera. However, his passion for photography diminished during his higher studies. After completing his education, while working as a Project Scientist on a government research project on medicinal plants, he frequently travelled to remote villages to gather traditional knowledge and information, taking photographs for documentation purposes. It was during this time that he reignited his passion for photography, this time using a basic compact camera.
In 2015, he joined the Photographic Society of Murshidabad (PSM), the oldest and only photography club in the Murshidabad district. He began participating in national and international photography salons. He also served as one of the faculty members for the “Certificate Course on Photography,” organized by the Photographic Society of Murshidabad in collaboration with the Photographic Association of Dum Dum. Since 2018, he has been serving as the Salon Secretary for the Murshidabad International Salon.
His fields of interest include Pictorial Photography, with a particular focus on Portraits, Still Life, and Child Study. He is also passionate about fine art photography and landscapes.
